Reservations open for 2024-25 Winter Camp Season: New Facilities for Families and People of Determination

Dubai Municipality has officially opened reservations for its popular winter camping season, running from October 21, 2024, to April 2025. Set in the scenic Al Aweer desert, this year’s camping facilities have been upgraded to offer an even more enjoyable and safe experience for residents and visitors. Special accommodations have been made for People of Determination, with priority access to reserved spaces close to the entrance for easier accessibility. The initiative is part of the Municipality's efforts to enhance inclusivity and ensure every camper enjoys a seamless stay in Dubai’s unique desert environment.

In addition to providing well-secured and comfortable camping facilities, Dubai Municipality has established commercial zones within the camping area. Local businesses can apply for permits to provide camping gear, food, and other services to campers. Business owners are encouraged to explore investment opportunities by visiting the Dubai Municipality’s official website.

As part of safety and regulation measures, Dubai Municipality will issue permits to all campers. Permit holders will be assigned designated areas and must comply with all camping safety standards. These include fencing the camps, adhering to fire safety regulations, and limiting camp activities to family-friendly events. Any unauthorized structures outside the camp's boundaries will be strictly prohibited.

Government sector entities will also have their designated camping areas, allowing them to set up camps that meet their operational needs.

Engineer Abdullah Al Shizawi, Director of the Building Activities Control Department at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the role of strategic partners, including Dubai Police, RTA, Civil Defense, and DEWA, in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. He reminded all campers to follow safety protocols to avoid accidents or penalties.

Key Camping Safety Guidelines:

Campers must adhere to public health and safety rules, keep their campsites clean, and ensure fire safety by using fire extinguishers. The use of fireworks, flashlights, and loudspeakers is prohibited, while sand bike speeds are restricted to 20 km/h within the camping area.

How to Apply for a Camping Permit:

Applications for winter camping permits can be submitted through various platforms, including the Dubai Municipality website, Dubai Now app, and the Dubai Building Permit System. The application requires a valid Dubai-issued passport and registration summary. The permit fee is 44 fils per square meter, with a maximum allowable camp size of 400 square meters.
